During the celebrations, Amazon.in announced a 20% year-over-year growth in the Home, Kitchen, and Outdoors category in West Bengal and Kolkata. West Bengal remains a crucial market for Amazon.in, with a large customer and seller base, as well as operational facilities. The company has 95 service partners, 3 delivery stations, and over 62,000 sellers in the state. Amazon India has also invested in physical infrastructure, including 3 fulfillment centers and sortation centers in Kolkata.
Both West Bengal and Kolkata have seen a 30% increase in demand for home decor products. Customers in Kolkata have shown a preference for large furniture items like storage beds, wardrobes, and sofas, with this category experiencing a 30% growth. The automotive segment has also seen higher demand, particularly for vehicle tools, which have grown by nearly 40%. There has been a noticeable increase in the sale of petrol and electric 2-wheelers, with petrol 2-wheeler sales increasing by 8 times and electric 2-wheelers by more than 10 times year-over-year Additionally, there has been a surge in the adoption of renewable energy products, with solar portfolio sales growing by over 65% and solar panels sales more than doubling year-over-year.
